9.19. Intelligent Emergency Braking
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions for proper use of the Intelligent Emergency Braking system could result in serious injury or death.
The Intelligent Emergency Braking system is a supplemental aid to the driver. It is not a replacement for the driver’s attention to traffic conditions or responsibility to drive safely. It cannot prevent accidents due to carelessness or dangerous driving techniques.
The Intelligent Emergency Braking system does not function in all driving, traffic, weather and road conditions.
The Intelligent Emergency Braking system can assist the driver when there is a risk of a forward collision with
a vehicle ahead or oncoming traffic in the travelling lane
a pedestrian ahead in the travelling lane
a cyclist ahead in the travelling lane
Junction assist can assist the driver when there is a risk of a forward collision
When you turn right or left and cross the path of an oncoming vehicle.
When you turn right or left, a pedestrian or cyclist is detected in the forward direction and is expected to enter your vehicle's path.
When approaching crossing vehicle (for models equipped with front side radar)

The Intelligent Emergency Braking system uses a radar sensor (B) located on the front of the vehicle to measure the distance to the vehicle ahead in the same lane.
For pedestrians and cyclists, the Intelligent Emergency Braking system uses a camera (A) installed behind the windscreen in addition to the radar sensor.
For crossing vehicles, the Intelligent Emergency Braking system uses side radar (C) (where fitted).
