9.22.3. Driver Monitoring system limitations
Listed below are the system limitations for the Driver Monitoring system. Failure to operate the vehicle in accordance with these system limitations could result in serious injury or death.
The Driver Monitoring system may not detect the driver’s condition in all situations, including:
When portions of the driver’s face, or head, or eyes are hidden (for example, wearing sunglasses with high infrared light protection, a face mask or a hat, goggles, eye patch, eyeliner, hair, muffler, piercing around eyes etc.).
When the monitor camera lens becomes obstructed by the steering wheel.
When the driver narrows their eyes (for example, avoiding the sun glare, etc.).
When the driver’s face cannot be seen correctly from the camera (it may occur when the face is blocked by the hand or when the driver is in the posture where the position of a face is difficult to be see from the camera).
When there are other devices using infrared light in the vehicle.
