Electric vehicles, homes, and businesses are already combining to support a smart grid where electric car batteries supply energy for the community. We’re also creating a circular economy for electric vehicle batteries. In Amsterdam, Nissan LEAF batteries make up the largest energy storage system using new and second-life batteries in a commercial building in Europe. And in the village of Namie, Japan, second-life LEAF batteries help power the street lights.

Nissan LEAF is the only Vehicle-to-Grid-ready car on the market today and we are working to make this innovative technology mainstream. Soon, if you get home with plenty of charge to spare, your home can borrow energy from the vehicle battery or even sell it back to the grid. In times of peak usage and high demand, you'd be giving something back and supporting the city management system.
There are currently more than 2,300 Nissan Quick Chargers across Europe, with 5,500 expected by 2020. And we're constantly working on expansion. We've teamed up with the European Commission on nine continent-wide projects and with companies like Ikea, Enel, Autogrill and others to make fast-charging easier than ever. What does the future hold? Imagine not even having to stop and top off. We’re exploring roadways with induction chargers built right into them, so you can charge your EV as you drive.
